West Bromwich Albion have seemingly coped well after the recent sacking of Darren Moore, with James Shan achieving back-to-back wins during his brief spell as caretaker boss.

The Baggies have picked up some impressive wins over the last two games, easing past Swansea City at home by three goals to nil, and picking up all three points at a tough place to go in Brentford.

With the West Midlands club on the look-out for a new permanent manager, there could be about to be a big twist in their search.

Former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic and current Preston North End boss Alex Neil remain in contention for the job, although reports have now surfaced claiming that Michael Appleton and Craig Shakespeare could be in line to land the job until the end of the season.

The duo worked together at Leicester City following the departure of Claudio Ranieri, just one year after the Foxes lifted the Premier League title.

Here, we take a look at why it be a disastrous move from West Brom if they were to hire Appleton and Shakespeare on a short-term basis...

They have no experience of promotion

It's clear that the only reason that West Brom sacked Moore was because they wanted an experienced head at the helm going into the play-offs, so appointing Appleton and Shakespeare would completely go against that.

The duo worked together only briefly at the King Power Stadium, and it would be a massive job for them to go in and take them up through the play-offs.

There are much better options out there

When you look at the managers out of work, there are much better options out there.

Slavisa Jokanovic, for instance, has experience of winning promotion to the Premier League - it was only last year when he won the play-offs with Fulham.

His brand of football would suit Albion's players to a tee, he knows what it takes to win at Wembley, and overall, he would be a much better appointment for the club.
