With almost two months left to play in the Sky Bet Championship campaign, Preston North End are still well in the hunt for a play-off finish.

The Lilywhites are currently six points off the play-off spots having gone unbeaten in their last nine league games, and it's clear that manager Alex Neil deserves a lot of credit.

The club endured a tough start to the season, but the 37-year old has turned the tide around at Deepdale, and it comes as no surprise to see him being linked with a move to Celtic in recent times.

The Scottish champions are looking for a new manager after the shock departure of Brendan Rodgers to Leicester, and have identified Neil as a potential replacement.

A move to Celtic Park could turn Neil's head, with the manager spending the majority of his playing career in Scotland, but here, we take a look at two reasons why he should stay at Preston in favour of a move to Celtic...

It would display a lack of ambition

It's no secret that Celtic are the biggest club in Scotland, and you couldn't blame Neil if he wanted to go and manage a club that are used to winning trophies every single year.

But at 37 years of age, Neil still has the ability to manage in the Premier League, which is arguably one of the most competitive leagues in world football, therefore it would be daft to throw that all away to win the SPFL with Celtic by 10 points or so.

He is building something special at Preston

Few would have expected Preston to be in with a chance of finishing in the play-offs at the start of the season, but the turnaround under Neil has been fantastic this term.

North End have a plethora of talented youngsters coming through the ranks, and Neil also brought in some magnificent players in the January window that are really impressing since their moves to Deepdale.

It would be very daft to throw that away now of all times.
