This season has been another disappointing one for Aston Villa Football Club.

The Birmingham based side were relegated from the Premier League for the first team last season, and fans that had envisaged an instant return to the top flight had their hopes dashed early in the season.

The club invested heavily over the summer and in January, and a number of multi million pound imports have walked through the gates at the Bodymoor Heath Training Ground this season.

Despite Villa blowing large sums of their parachute payments in an attempt to bounce back, mid table obscurity is the result of their first season in the second division since 1988.

Bruce has acquired a whole host of players with proven Sky Bet Championship experience, and it is expected that Villa will battle for the title next season.

However, Villa will need to continue to strengthen their squad over the summer if they are to fulfill the hopes and expectations of the Villa park faithful.

Chelsea have a host of talent in their youth side, and Steve Bruce may look to tap into this system to improve his squad.

Here we take a look at TWO Chelsea youth stars Bruce may turn to this summer....

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has gone from strength to strength in recent years, and has made 6 Premier League substitute appearances for the league leaders this season.

Many would consider Loftus-Cheek to be ready to consistently break into the first team, but 31 Premier League minutes is not the extensive input the youngster may have hoped for. Premier League clubs will be interested in a deal for the player, but a move to the Championship may be the perfect option for the youngster this summer.

At 21 years of age, Loftus-Cheek is ready to play, and Steve Bruce’s side would be guaranteed to give the player serious game time. The England Under-21 international would a star in The Championship, and would be a quality addition to Steve Bruce’s side.

Extremely talented on the ball and consistently able to find the back of the net from a supporting role, Loftus-Cheek could be the difference for Villa next year.

Due to the interest in the player, Bruce may struggle to compete with those able to offer Premier League football. Bruce can however guarantee game time, and this is certain to be something that will interest not only the player, but his parent club. If Bruce can pull this one off, Villa have got to be promotion favourites.

Tomas Kalas

A 2010 signing from Czech side, Sigma Olomouc, Kalas has spent almost the entirety of his Chelsea career out on loan.

Currently with play off contenders, Fulham, Kalas has impressed for the Cottagers this season, and his performances at the back have laid the foundations for Fulham’s success this campaign.

It seems unlikely that Kalas will return to Chelsea next season to compete for a place in the first team, so another season out on loan or even a permanent transfer may be in the offing.

With his contract expiring in 2018, Chelsea may look to turn a profit on the 23 year old.

Villa boast the 5th best defensive record in the Championship this season, but the addition of Kalas would further tighten up the Villains back line.

For a young player, Kalas has extensive experience, and time spent with the squad at Euro 2016 will have aided in his development. Kalas has played well at Fulham this year, but still has a lot to prove to his parent club.

If a bigger move to the Premier League does not materialise this summer, Kalas may turn to the proven grounds of The Championship in an attempt to gain a permanent switch to a club who will value his services.

Kalas has no future at Chelsea, and Bruce would do well to add such a quality player to his squad.
