It's been another eventful season for Charlton Athletic this campaign and fans will be hoping it is going to finish on an upward trend rather than downward.

After starting their return to the second tier in fine form and flirting with the play-offs, an unbelievable injury crisis coupled with poor form has left them in a relegation fight for when the campaign resumes.

When that happens, of course, remains to be seen with the announcement the 19/20 season has been postponed indefinitely, though there is still a commitment to get it seen through.

For Charlton fans, then, there'll be hope some of the issues plaguing the squad can be ironed out before a resumption later on in the year, and these two players will be hoping that they can benefit from the likely extended break:

Lewis Page

Page has had no luck with injuries again this season and in his last recovery he lasted only a handful of minutes in an u23 game before having to come off.

Lee Bowyer had said that it was unlikely he'd play much at all if the season restarted at the beginning of May but he could have extra time now.

He still needs to be treated carefully but he has a longer window in which to get back up to speed.

Sam Field

Bowyer was more hopeful that Field would still play a part in the remainder of the season and so you'd expect that that expectancy would have grown since the announcement yesterday afternoon.

The midfielder is a talented player but has been out for a few months and had only recently got back into training - he'll now have extra time to really get back to the level he'll need to be for the run-in.
