Charlton Athletic have a fine history of bringing through young players into their side and seeing them go on to have top careers, often at the very highest level.
Based in south-east London, the Addicks often get the pick of a talented pool of players with so many top-class stars coming from the area.
In recent years, we’ve seen the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Joe Gomez come through and go on to be Premier League regulars, with the latter winning the title with Liverpool just last season.
There are many more young players coming through at Charlton, though, and some of them have even been plucked from further afield than south London.
With their record for developing youth in mind, then, we take a look at two players on the fringes of the first-team that could be ones to watch in the near to mid-term…
Barker is a player that Charlton fans will be familiar with now given his involvement in the squad at the early points of this season with the Addicks short on players at the beginning of the campaign.
He did a pretty decent job in defence, too, and many will be eager to see him keep progressing and showing what he can do in seasons to come.
He has plenty of quality and is certainly one to watch in the next few years.
Aouachria has been involved in the first-team this season, too, with him featuring for the Addicks during their EFL Trophy campaign and also getting on the scoresheet.
Of course, he still wants to get more involved in league proceedings in the future but certainly has plenty of good attributes to allow him to do that and he is another player to keep an eye on.
His attacking instincts are already there and now for him it’s about honing his craft and becoming a really good young forward.
