Charlton Athletic are yet to make a marquee signing this month.

After becoming one of the EFL's richest clubs at the start of the month, Charlton fans were expecting to see some money spent this month.

But the club is yet to spend a penny - the loan-acquisition of Aston Villa's Andre Green remains their sole signing, and time is quickly running out for Lee Bowyer.

His side have been linked with the odd name here and there but nothing has yet gone past that.

Signings are most definitely needed for Charlton, who face a very real threat of relegation if their results don't improve - they've won just one of their last 18 in all competitions and find themselves 20th of the Championship table.

Here we take a look at two transfers that could realistically happen this week:

Richie Smallwood - In

The Blackburn Rovers man hasn't featured for his side since August, and hasn't played a single Championship game all season. He's been exiled by Tony Mowbray in favour of Stewart Downing and Lewis Travis in the heart of midfield, and now it looks like the 29-year-old could be on his way out.

Both Charlton and Wigan Athletic have registered their interest in Smallwood, amongst other clubs in the EFL. Charlton, though, look like the favourites to land Smallwood, who pushed and failed for a move away from Ewood Park in the summer.

He's a player with good Championship experience with the likes of Middlesbrough, Rotherham United and Blackburn and would definitely give Bowyer something new in his side.

The clock is ticking though and if Charlton want to win the race to sign Smallwood, they'll have to move quickly.

Florentin Pogba - In

The older brother of Manchester United and France star Paul, Florentin has been linked with a move to The Valley this week. Having been released from MLS outfit Atlanta United, Pogba is now a free agent and has been reportedly training with Charlton's development squad this week.

A central defender, Pogba's career has seen him represent the likes of St Etienne in France and Atlanta, with a small stint in Turkey too - it's not been an inspiring career as of yet, but he could still make a name for himself in the EFL.

Charlton have been struck with injury throughout the first-half of the season and remain so today. They are in desperate need of numbers and why Bowyer hasn't recruited a whole new squad by this point of the window is baffling.

This one would be a risk - he's somewhat of an unknown quantity and arrives with a bigger name than most.
