2 changes we could see at Blackpool FC this summer

Published

on

It’s been a decent season for Blackpool Football Club on their return to England’s second tier in 2021/22.

Under boss Neil Critchley, the Seasiders find themselves 15th in the Championship standings, and if results go their way, they could even end the season in the top half.

There will undoubtedly be some changes at Bloomfield Road this summer, with the club looking to strengthen, whilst simultaneously fielding interest for players that have impressed for them this campaign.

With that in mind, here are two changes we could see at Blackpool this summer.

Charlie Kirk joins permanently

One change we could see happening at Blackpool FC this summer is that Charlton Athletic loanee Charlie Kirk makes his move to Bloomfield Road a permanent one.

Kirk joined the Seasiders on loan during the January transfer window, but reportedly has a buy option in his loan deal.

Kirk has featured eight times since joining as he adapts to life in the second-tier, but recently he earned high praise from Critchley, who praised the player’s technical ability, with the Blackpool boss suggesting he was a potential difference maker in the final third.

For those reasons, we think Critchley may want to secure Kirk’s signature permanently this summer.

Josh Bowler leaves the club

Blackpool fans certainly won’t like this one but given his contract situation it makes sense that Josh Bowler could leave the club this summer.

There was intense speculation linking him with a move away in January and recently Nottingham Forest have once again been attributed with an interest in the winger.

His contract at Bloomfield Road expires this summer, although the club are reported to hold an option to extend his stay for a further year.

It would make sense to trigger that extension and then cash in on Bowler, if he wants to leave the club, rather than keeping him against his will and losing him for free next summer.

This one then could all come down to the player’s desire for a move elsewhere.
