Stoke City have endured a dismal start to the season and things aren't getting any easier for Nathan Jones with West Brom up next.

A 2-0 defeat at Millwall last time out has left the Potters second from bottom in the Championship and four points from safety, although that situation could have worsened by the time they kick-off against the Baggies on Monday night.

So, the pressure is obviously building significantly on Jones and he knows that a failure to pick up points from this game and the crunch fixture with Barnsley after that will probably see him out of a job.

Therefore, he has to be bold with his selection against Sleven Bilic's side and here we look at TWO changes he will be considering for the game...

Starting Tommy Smith

With Tom Edwards injured, Jones made the surprise call to go with Cameron Carter-Vickers at right-back against the Lions - a role which isn't his natural position.

Providing the academy graduate doesn't return, the boss needs to revert to Tommy Smith at full-back.

Even though he hasn't always impressed, his inclusion would give the team more balance which is crucially important in a home game.

Giving Sam Vokes a start

Nobody seems capable of scoring consistently for Stoke up front, so it's no surprise that Jones hasn't really settled on his best front two.

However, even with all the changes, Vokes is not being given a fair chance. He hasn't started in the league since the second game of the campaign and he has scored two in three from the times he started in the League Cup.

The Welsh international has struggled since arriving but he can be a threat and deserves a chance against an Albion defence that haven't convinced this season.
