After Saturday’s defeat to Reading, Millwall will be hoping to get back to winning ways and move out of the Championship relegation zone.

Neil Harris has plenty of food for thought ahead of this evening’s clash with Wigan Athletic at The Den and has selections to ponder in an attempt to mastermind just their third victory of the season.

Having had 27 shots, 12 on target and 14 corners at the Madejski Stadium, the Lions only managed to score once.

While their opponents notched three and saw off wave after wave of attacks from the visitors.

It was a disappointing defeat for all concerned with Millwall as they remain winless away from home this term.

Eight of the ten points Harris’ side have recorded have come at The Den, and he will be hoping to add to that tally this evening.

There could be changes in the side once more as the Lions’ boss looks to find a formula that works and brings results on a consistent basis.

With that said, here are two chances Harris could make to the Millwall starting XI this evening in their Championship tussle with an in-form Wigan Athletic.

Having started the last two matches, Tom Elliott looked to be in impressive form just ahead of the international break.

With the two-week interval coming at the wrong time for this striker, his performance in the Reading defeat was below the standards set in the previous fixtures.

The 27-year-old had attempts on goal at the weekend with only one on target, hitting the woodwork once, too.

He won 13 of his 23 aerial duels which is far below the number won in each of the previous two fixtures.

Elliott was replaced by Steve Morison in the 77th minute, and with Neil Harris looking for an upturn in form, it could see the return of the Lions’ captain to the starting line-up.

Morison has not started in three matches and with the international break to recoup; he looks to be fighting fit and full of energy after a solid cameo in the defeat last time out.

It’s expected that Harris will name the 35-year-old ahead of Elliott in the starting XI this evening.

Despite scoring in the defeat over the weekend, Murray Wallace has been a deputy to Shaun Hutchinson who has been out for the last seven matches with a knee injury.

The Millwall vice-captain was named on the bench for the first time since August this past Saturday and could be in contention to start against Wigan.

The Lions have not kept a clean sheet since their second league game of the season, and the disruption of Hutchinson’s injury has been far from ideal.

With the 27-year-old fit again and having had a watching brief against Reading, now is the perfect time for him to return.

Uncharacteristically for Millwall, they are leaking goals at a rapid rate and is a severe cause for concern.

The hope will be that the fit-again defender returns to continue his partnership at the back with Jake Cooper to eliminate careless errors and lower the number of goals that go against them.

The two have an understanding that make them a fantastic tandem for Neil Harris to have on the pitch.

And on the back of another defeat, the defence needs to be called into question, and as such, Hutchinson should make his long-awaited return to the starting XI this evening.
