Sheffield Wednesday’s form picked up in the last three fixtures before the international break, after a poor start to the new season.

Jos Luhukay’s men have won three in a row after two defeats and a draw in their opening three matches to start off the season.

The Owls boss made a statement and dropped several of the club’s bigger players after the poor start.

Since then, and a change in personnel, Wednesday have been bang in form with the international break coming at the wrong time.

Momentum will have been halted, but Luhukay will be hoping to get his players back on form before the Championship paused for international friendlies and the UEFA Nations League.

Two weeks off will allow fringe players to show the boss they are worthy of being in contention when the league continues on Saturday with players dropped to fight back into the team.

With that said, here are two possible chances the Lampard could make the Sheffield Wednesday starting XI this weekend against Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.

Jordan Thorniley has made five appearances this season so far but with Stoke City the next opponents, Jos Luhukay might be interested in bringing in the more experienced Sam Hutchinson for the clash with the Potters.

Hutchinson has been one of the club’s better performers in recent years, despite a recent lack of form.

But the central defender could be recalled ahead of this weekend’s match at Hillsborough.

The Tottenham Hotspur loanee will be eligible to play this weekend when the Owls host Stoke City, and with the U21s’ fixtures completed, the midfielder will be back at Hillsborough looking to make his Wednesday debut on the weekend.

Now could be the right time to bring the Spurs youngster in ahead of Marco Matias who has featured in five Championship games this term without scoring.

Onomah will be chomping at the bit to get his Owls career off to a flying start, beginning with the Potters this weekend.
