Bristol City are today being linked with a move for Sunderland striker Josh Maja as manager Lee Johnson looks to improve his squad.

The impressive 19-year-old striker has been in superb form for the Black Cats this term, banging in ten goals and making a real name for himself as one of the stars of the third tier this term.

However, a move to the Championship is likely to appeal to the youngster, who will see his contract run out this summer after failing as yet to agree a new deal with Sunderland.

A move to the Robins might be a good one, but there surely has to be a few other Championship clubs who are keen on signing the powerful frontman, and we at FLW think that Bristol's interest might yet just kick off a bidding war for Maja.

With that in mind, we took a look at TWO Championship cluibs who need to be competing with Bristol for the signing of Josh Maja...

Leeds United

Leed simply have to get themselves in the picture for the signing of Maja, especially if they fancy a run at promotion.

With Patrick Bamford injured and over reliance somewhat on Kemar Roofe, the Whites need to be adding some more quality to their attacking ranks if possible.

Maja would be superb at Leeds, and is someone Marcelo Bielsa could improve further.

Sheffield United

If there is on team in the promotion picture who need some new strikers, then it's Sheffield United.

Despite having Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick leading the line, they are an ageing frontline with Leon Clarke on the bench, and signing Maja wouild be a superb move.

Maja could well be a difference maker for Chris Wilder if he does indeed decide to splash some cash in January.
