Cardiff City have made an underwhelming start to life back in the Championship following their relegation last term, but they did secure a much-needed 4-2 victory over Birmingham on Saturday.

Joe Ralls netted a hat-trick for the Bluebirds as they bounced back from their defeat to Swansea in the South Wales derby, but Neil Warnock's side are currently sitting 14th in the second tier after winning just five games this season.

Cardiff have been a formidable entity on home soil as they are yet to lose a league match in the Welsh capital this term, but they have been contrastingly poor on the road as they are yet to win on their travels this term.

It seems likely that Warnock will be looking to dip into the January transfer window for reinforcements to his side, but there may also be a number of players on their way out of South Wales after struggling to make an impact so far.

Here are two players Warnock should look to offload in January...

Gary Madine

Madine has really struggled to adapt to life at Cardiff following his switch from Bolton in January 2018, with the striker having failed to score in any of his 21 appearances for Warnock's side.

He started in attack for the Bluebirds in their opening-day clash with Wigan, but Madine has now not featured in the league since this match, with Warnock preferring to start either Robert Glatzel or Danny Ward in attack.

Madine, who is now 29, will surely be wanting to play regular football at this point in his career, and he seems the obvious player that Cardiff should look to offload in January in order to create some funds.

Will Vaulks

Vaulks made the move from Rotherham to Cardiff over the summer following his former club's relegation to League One, but the Wales international has made a disappointing start to his career with the Bluebirds.

The midfielder has struggled to feature in Warnock's side during  the season so far, and he has now not made a league appearance since coming off the bench against Huddersfield back in August.

Vaulks has either been left on the bench or simply not included in the squad altogether since then, with Cardiff already well-stocked in midfield with the likes of Marlon Pack, Joe Ralls and Leandro Bacuna ahead of him in the pecking order.

Warnock should perhaps look to send the 26-year-old out on loan in January if he is not looking capable of breaking into the Cardiff side this season.
