Bristol Rovers picked up their first win under manager Ben Garner last weekend, coming back from 1-0 down to beat Blackpool 2-1 at the Memorial Stadium.

To say it has been a difficult start to life at the South West club for Garner would be an understatement.

He took charge of the club in late December and saw his side go 14 games without a victory.

Injuries to some key men have not helped his cause but after the win against the Tangerines, Garner will be hoping the Pirates can climb back up League One.

They sit 13th in the table as things stand, 11 points back from the top six, so the play-offs may be out of the question but finishing the campaign with a flourish will set them up well for next season.

Rovers face a tough test on Saturday as they travel to the Stadium of Light to face in-form Sunderland.

The old adage is that you don't change a winning team but Garner will surely be considering a few changes to help his side pick up back-to-back victories.

With that in mind, here are two tweaks that he may look to make for their clash with the Black Cats...

Hand Timmy Abraham his first start

The Fulham loanee was brought on as a late substitute with the game in the balance and was impressive.

Abraham did a lot of the hard yards and put himself about well physically, taking some of the pressure of Jonson Clarke-Harris up front.

Clarke-Harris has had to shoulder much of the responsibility as both a goalscorer and the side's focal point in the final third this season.

Handing Abraham his first start against Sunderland would take some pressure off the 25-year-old and would provide the Fulham loanee with a chance to influence the game from the start.

His physical presence wouldn't go amiss away against Phil Parkinson's side either.

Start Josh Ginnelly on the right

Despite the victory, wingers Alex Rodman and Jayden Mitchell-Lawson both didn't look at the races against Blackpool.

Ginnelly's introduction was an important one for the Gas, as he came from the bench to score a late winner against the Tangerines.

It was a strong all-around display from the 22-year-old and one that may lead Garner to utilise him from the off against Sunderland.

Ginnelly will likely be very high in confidence after bagging the winner, so it makes a lot of sense for the Rovers boss to give him a chance from the start.
