Bristol City have made a strong start to their new campaign once again. In previous years, Johnson's side have looked like they could strongly challenge for promotion but dropped off in the second half of the season.

Robins fans will be hoping that early form can be continued this season. They're currently 6th, taking the last playoff spot. The league is so competitive that they're only two points away from first placed West Bromwich Albion. But, a dip in form can see them fall down the table dramatically.

They've lost only one game but drawn too many, including four of their last six. Bristol made some good summer signings, but who hasn't lived up to expectations...

Sammie Szmodics

Not for the first time, Bristol signed a promising League Two attacker who has then struggled for game time. Last season they bought Mo Eisa from Cheltenham, he struggled to get into the side and with injury. He was sold to Peterborough and is scoring freely in League One.

Szmodics has been stuck on the bench for Lee Johnson's Bristol so far, only coming off of it once, in a 0-0 with Swansea. Last season he scored 14 goals and created another 6 for Colchester from an attacking midfield position.

Although lacking physicality, he excelled in League 2 with a great goal record for a midfielder but in terms of being a signing for Bristol, he hasn't hit the ground running but hasn't been given the chance to.

Adam Nagy

This signing looked like a real coup for Bristol and was a bit of a surprise. He signed from Serie A side Bologna. The defensive midfielder has struggled for fitness and hasn't been able to make the big impact that he could have otherwise made for the Championship side.

The 24-year-old is a Hungarian international and has nearly 3,500 minutes of experience in the Italian top tier. So to drop into the Championship was a surprise and shows the quality and the draw of the league. Bristol have started well but it's likely that if Nagy had been able to play more than just two matches, they could be even higher and a player of that quality is the type who could make a real difference to a team at this level.

The midfielder is great at breaking up play in midfield, reads the game well and is strong in challenges. He has good control and ball carrying ability as well as good progressive passing. Once he can gain fitness he could be key for Bristol City.
