2 Blackburn Rovers transfer situations we could see play out in the next few weeks

The summer transfer window has so far been a very quiet one around Blackburn Rovers.

While Rovers side have yet to make a single senior signing, 21-year-old goalkeeper Joe Hilton’s loan move to Hamilton is the only deal the club have done in terms of outgoing business with other teams.

As a result, it seems as though there are still plenty of moves to be completed at Ewood Park, with regards to both incomings and outgoings, as we enter the final month of the window.

So with that in mind, we’ve taken a look here, at two Blackburn transfer scenarios we could see happen over the course of the next few weeks.

Adam Armstrong’s departure

Despite being linked with a number of Premier League clubs following his 29-goal campaign last season, Blackburn have so far been able to retain the services of Adam Armstrong this summer.

But with Armstrong now entering the final year of his contract, this could be Rovers’ final chance to receive a fee for such a high-quality and valuable player.

As a result, you wonder whether Rovers might reduce their demands over Armstrong somewhat as the market nears its end, in order to avoid risking losing him for nothing next year, potentially opening the door for sides to swoop, especially when those funds could be crucial for them to bring players in.

Leighton Clarkson arrives on loan

Having seen four senior midfielders leave the club this summer, the centre of the park is a position where Blackburn need reinforcements in the next few weeks.

One player who looks to be a potential option to fill that role is Liverpool’s Leighton Clarkson, with Rovers having been credited with an interest in the 19-year-old in recent months.

Now, it has been suggested that Liverpool will be willing to let Clarkson leave on loan this summer in search of first-team experiences. Given the success that Harvey Elliott enjoyed with his temporary move from Merseyside to Ewood Park last season, Jurgen Klopp and co. may see Rovers as a suitable destination for Clarkson for the coming campaign.
