Blackburn Rovers have made a solid start to their Championship campaign, following promotion from League One last term.

Despite their 4-1 thumping away at Bristol City last Sunday afternoon, Rovers look a solid outfit having lost just the once and winning two out of their opening six league games, with any fears of an instant drop back down to League One surely erased.

Rovers sit in 13th place after their first six games, and definitely have the squad to kick on and form a promotion push come the end of the season; they host Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon fresh from the international break, and will be hoping for yet another win at Ewood Park.

There is a long, long way to go in the league this season, and here, we take a look at two decisions that could come back to haunt Blackburn Rovers...

There is absolutely no doubt that Bradley Dack is Blackburn's talisman, and there is also no doubt that Blackburn rate him so highly, typified when the Lancashire club rejected a move from West Brom for him in the latter stages of the transfer window.

And why wouldn't they rate him that highly? Dack won the 2017/18 League One Player of the Year award and netted 18 times from midfield as Rovers clinched promotion from the division last term.

Is Tony Mowbray too reliant on Dack however? The 24-year old has suffered a minor spell on the sidelines already this term, and if he were to be injured again, this may damper Rovers' form.

When Brereton came onto the scene at Nottingham Forest in 2017, many Premier League clubs were in pursuit of his signature.

Since then, however, the 19-year old scored 8 goals in over 50 games for the Reds, before sealing a £7million move to Ewood Park on deadline day.

Of course, Brereton is still young, however, is £7million a lot for a player who is yet to prove himself as a consistent goalscorer in the Championship - or could the money have been spent on a proven goalscorer to spearhead Rovers up the table?
