Birmingham City have had a good season under Garry Monk, where they have knocked on the door of the play-offs after a few seasons of relegation scrapping, but the top six maybe a step too far this year.

This could give a chance for Monk to bleed in some youth from the academy in the final weeks, if missing out on the play-offs is the case.

The Blues have produced some top talent over the last decades, and the production line looks to be strong going into the next few seasons, with some remarkable talent in the academy waiting for their chance in the first team.

Here, we look at two of their gems that have shown promise and could push for a first-team spot in the not too distant future.

Do you agree, or have you spotted a better talent ready to make the big step up to the first-team? Let us know in the comments section below.

Charlie Lakin

Charlie Lakin has made his full Championship debut and has vastly impressed, but first-team opportunities have been limited.

The 19-year-old midfielder was born in Solihull and looks set to give Monk something to think about.

Odin Bailey

Odin Bailey is earning praise in the youth teams for his performances this season and at just 19, we’d expect Garry Monk to have a close eye on his progress.

He is predominantly an attacking midfielder, but can play on either wing and looks like a great asset.
