Birmingham City are appearing to be one of the busier clubs in the early stages of this January transfer window.

The Blues currently find themselves in 18th place in the Championship standings and will be hoping that they can exit the month in better shape than they started it.

Birmingham will be wary that a relegation scrap could be on the cards with a continuation of recent form, with the Midlands club eight points above the bottom three places.

Here, we take a look at two transfer sagas involving Birmingham at present...

Amad Diallo

One interesting development concerning the Blues is the immediate future of Manchester United winger Amad Diallo.

Football Insider reported yesterday that the 19-year-old was set to sign for Lee Bowyer's side, in what seemed to be a quick-moving transfer.

However, Fabrizio Romano has since provided an update via his Twitter page that the deal has collapsed, detailing that there are four other clubs in pursuit of the highly-rated starlet.

The Sun's Alan Nixon has reported that Derby County are providing divisional competition for the services of Diallo, with Rooney said to be keen.

Alfie Mawson

Birmingham are monitoring Alfie Mawson's situation at Fulham, as per a report from journalist Nick Mashiter on Twitter.

QPR have already been knocked back in their approach for the 27-year-old, according to West London Sport, with the R's also looking to bolster their defensive options this month.

Mawson has dropped down the pecking order at Fulham, with his chances of regular first-team football taking hit by Marco Silva being set in a four-at-the-back formation.

There also remains a possibility that Dion Sanderson could return to the Blues this month, with The Athletic's Tim Spiers admitting that it is likely that the recalled Wolves defender will go back out on a temporary spell.
