Newcastle United this weekend have been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest defender, Joe Worrall.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form for the Reds as they have made a superb start to life in the Championship this time around under Sabri Lamouchi.

The Reds currently sit second in the Championship table, with Worrall at the forefront of things from a defensive point of view thanks to some astute and commanding performances in the middle of the back four.

However, news of interest from the Premier League will no doubt be something of a surprise for both Forest and Worrall, and could well be an unwanted distraction as their season progresses.

The Reds defender is playing exceptionally well, so the interest is bound to come, but we at FLW think that the time might not be quite right for Worrall to jump ship just yet.

With that, we've looked at TWO big reasons why he needs to stay at the City Ground and resist Newcastle's advances...

He's in the form of his life

Why would a player look to make a move when they are playing some of their best football? It's a question Worrall will have to ask himself, of course.

However, he is in fine form for Forest and doing well, so to break that up now and risk being benched or worse, relegated as part of a Newcastle team low on confidence is a big risk to take.

Worrall would be better keeping his good form up and proving himself over the course of a full season before making a decision on his future may be lying elsewhere.

Newcastle is a sinking ship

It's not rocket science to see that things aren't too rosy in the northeast when it comes to Newcastle United and football.

Manager Steve Bruce has hardly been welcomed with open arms, while the team are struggling to pick up any points and could be in a relegation battle.

With Newcastle on their way down and Forest finally, on their way up it seems, Worrall would be best served just staying put this time around.
