Barnsley will be looking to pick up their first win of the 2021/22 season, when they return to action against Coventry City this weekend.

The Tykes were forced to settle for a point in their first match of the new Championship campaign, as they drew 1-1 with Cardiff City.

They were dumped out of the EFL Cup at the First Round stage though, as they were beaten by League One side Bolton Wanderers on penalties, after a goalless draw after 90 minutes.

The Tykes have already been active in the summer transfer window, with the likes of Josh Benson and Devante Cole arriving at Oakwell in recent months.

Whereas Alex Mowatt, Conor Chaplin and Marcel Ritzmaier are just some of the names to leave the club, and it'll be interesting to see if any other players are to head for the exit door in the near future.

We take a look at TWO Barnsley players who could leave Oakwell before the 31st August transfer deadline.

Cameron Thompson

The Barnsley youngster was a second-half substitute in their recent EFL Cup defeat to Bolton Wanderers, as he replaced Victor Adeboyejo after 56 minutes.

But his efforts weren't quite enough to see them progress to the next stage of the competition. Thompson is still only 21, and has been with the club since 2020, having previously been on the books with Fulham earlier in his career.

He could potentially benefit from a loan spell away from Oakwell this season, as first-team opportunities might be tough to find moving forwards this term, with Markus Schopp having a number of more experienced options available to him in attack.

Isaac Christie-Davies

Christie-Davies signed for Barnsley back in 2020, having previously played for Liverpool's Under-23s team earlier in his career, but his move hasn't panned out as originally planned.

The midfielder hasn't made a single appearance for Barnsley's first-team, and has been restricted to Under-23s game time, which is far from ideal for the 23-year-old.

The Barnsley Chronicle had previously revealed that the Tykes could show the door to Christie-Davies, although it's unclear as to whether any potential deal would be a permanent or temporary move.
