Barnsley have been faltering somewhat in recent weeks, slipping further down the League One table after an impressive start to the campaign.

Daniel Stendel’s side are outside the play-offs by two points having been chasing the automatic places in the early stages of the season.

The Tykes have not won in their last four matches, and despite winning four of their last ten, they have not done so consistently to maintain their place at the top end of the table.

The transfer window opens in less than two weeks, and with Stendel’s men having a solid start to the season after relegation, vultures could well be circling to take their better players away.

The start to the season undoubtedly alerted clubs to their in-form stars despite the drop off in results in recent weeks, and interest could be firmed up in the new year.

With that said, here are two Barnsley players we expect to be leaving Oakwell in the first few weeks of 2019.

The 24-year-old midfielder has been impressive for the Tykes all season long and has six goals to his name.

Brad Potts can play on the wing, in the middle, or even in the number ten role making him a real attacking utility if needed in various positions.

With three assists to his name, too the Barnsley man has been involved in nine goals this season after 23 matches in all competitions.

His work rate too could alert clubs in the new year, and there is sure to be no shortage of interest in the young midfielder in the new year.

The 26-year-old striker has 11 goals in 21 league appearances so far this season, despite failing to score in his last three matches in all competitions.

His goal scoring exploits could attract interest from Championship sides looking to remain in the division or high-end League One clubs looking to get back there.

Either way, players who score goals are always wanted men, and since the departure of Tom Bradshaw, Kieffer Moore has stepped up to the plate – and could well be on his way out of Oakwell in the new year if his form persists.
