Dean Smith has had just over a week to prepare for his first match in charge of Aston Villa as they welcome Swansea City to Villa Park on Saturday.

The former Brentford boss was given the manager's job at the West Midland's club after Steve Bruce was sacked following a 3-3 draw with Preston North End.

A further 2-1 defeat to Millwall the following weekend under the guidance of youth coach Kevin MacDonald meant the Villains dropped down to 15th in the table, leaving Smith and his new team with plenty of work to do.

There have been plenty of questionable performances from the players at Villa with the defensive side of things producing countless poor performances.

Having had time to look closer at his team in the past week it is likely that Smith will want to ring the changes to welcome in his reign.

Here, then, are two players who are not guaranteed a start against Swansea on Saturday...

With James Bree set to continue at right-back and with Dean Smith's desire to play attacking football, the Egyptian's place will certainly be at risk.

With the likes of Anwar El Ghazi and Yannick Bolasie chomping at the bit on the sidelines, it would be a surprise if he was not to unleash them on Swansea.

Whilst at Brentford this season, Smith has consistently employed a 4-1-4-1 formation and if he is to do that again, McGinn could be at risk.

Both he and Birkir Bjarnason started against Millwall last time out but it was the Scot who was replaced by Bolasie in the second half and could well be again on Saturday.
