It looks to be a battle between two struggling sides this weekend, one win in eighteen fixtures between Birmingham and Ipswich would suggest that is the case.

Far from it, both have plenty to prove with 20% of the season gone. Ipswich are coming to terms with a new approach and focus, McCarthy has gone and Paul Hurst is implementing change. Will he be given the time to blend his lower league heroes into a Championship side?

One of the players he's brought into the fold is Gwion Edwards, a winger from Peterborough who seemed ready to step up to the second-tier.

What of Birmingham City? Financial Fair Play victims in the summer, Garry Monk's ability as a coach has been tested to the extreme with a transfer embargo and a weaker squad than the year before. He's got Jacques Maghoma on the wing, a player who remains at the club from last time around.

Which of the two are likely to have an effect this weekend? Our latest FLW duel pits them again each other.

Both have played nine games for their respective clubs, with their minutes on the field being close to, 759 for Maghoma and 731 for Edwards. They've had equal amounts of time, so the figures are very comparable.

Maghoma has one goal to his name, that coming on the opening day against Norwich City. Edwards has bagged two, also one on the opening day as well as one in the East Anglia derby match against Norwich.

Those figures are reversed for assists, Maghoma has two, against Nottingham Forest and Leeds, whilst Edwards has just the one, again on the opening day against Blackburn.

Maghoma averages more shots per game, just. He has 1.8 per match whilst Edwards chips in with 1.4. The average dribbles per game favours Edwards, he has 2.3 whereas his Birmingham City counterpart has just 1.2.

In four categories they can't be separated, but the final one does give us a 'winner' of sorts. Gwion Edwards pass success rate in just 55.6%, leaving him some way behind his opposite number. Maghoma has an impressive figure of 73.5%, leaving him the narrow winner in this duel.

Maghoma just edges the duel and it wouldn't be a surprise if Birmingham just edge the encounter this weekend.
