Gary Rowett’s Derby County side are going about their business in the Sky Bet Championship quietly, with the Rams moving towards the brink of the division’s top-six in recent weeks, after a five-match unbeaten run, including back-to-back victories over Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday.

Derby sit ninth in the table, three points behind sixth placed, Norwich City, who coincidently are the Rams’ opponents this weekend. Here at FLW, we take a look at the starting XI Rowett might select for this weekend’s trip to Carrow Road, as his side look for a third consecutive victory.

Rowett appears to have a settled defensive unit, which look set to continue again this weekend. Scott Carson will be in goal, behind a defence that will include Andre Wisdom, Richard Keogh, Curtis Davies and Craig Forsyth.

Ahead of that defensive unit, Joe Ledley and Tom Huddlestone will be expected to continue in a midfield shield, with Bradley Johnson one again expected to be limited to a place on the bench. Tom Lawrence and Johnny Russell should continue out wide, flanking Matej Vydra, who will be in the number 10 role.

Vydra has six Championship goals to his name already this season, and whilst their might be a temptation to move him into a number nine role and play Johnson at Carrow Road, we believe Rowett should continue with £2.7m-rated David Nugent.
