Sheffield Wednesday will surely be looking to get back towards the sharp end of the table next season after a tough 2017/18.

Injuries and inconsistency have meant that the Owls have not been able to mount a serious promotion charge and it's now the case of just going through the motions until the end of this campaign.

However, come the new season once their players are back fit and with some new faces, the Owls should be able to go again because, when they're not hampered by injury, they've got a very good squad.

Could it be perhaps tweaked to make slightly better though? Here's the fresh XI we think will see them get back towards the promotion places...

Keiren Westwood is one of the best in the league and should remain number 1.

Jack Hunt will surely stay at right back.

Tom Lees has missed much of this season but he is still an important player.

Liam Moore from Reading could be the ideal man to partner Tom Lees.

£2.7m-rated Andy Yiadom could leave Barnsley this summer and would be a solid addition at left-back, with Daniel Pudil one of those making way.

George Boyd is a good pro and will want to feature more next season now he is fit.

Sam Hutchinson has also missed much of the season but is another key man for next year.

Barry Bannan will still be the man to pull the strings next season.

Adam Reach looks well suited to playing further forwards and should stay there.

Fernando Forestieri will be a welcome sight for Owls fans next year.

Gary Hooper should stay in the side despite a tough second half of the campaign.
