Leeds United are sitting 12thin the Sky Bet Championship table, with the Whites having to settle for a mid-table finish in the coming weeks.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side have been inconsistent during the second-half of the season, which has left Leeds’ play-off push in tatters.

There are two fixtures of the Championship season remaining before Leeds’ full attention will be on the summer transfer window.

Leeds are likely to be active during the course of the summer, with Heckingbottom on the lookout for players to help improve on this season’s mediocre campaign.

Money will have to be spent to ensure that Leeds get the quality needed ahead of next season, but Heckingbottom will also look to be savvy and take a look at some of the free agents that could be available.

With that in mind, we focus on SIX free agents that could be perfect for Leeds in the summer…

Green left Leeds under 12 months ago, but he’s not yet featured for Huddersfield Town.

Leeds need to add an experienced first-team goalkeeper to their squad and Green would be perfect.

However, convincing him to return to Elland Road might be difficult.

Yiadom and Heckingbottom worked together at Barnsley, who are set to lose the defender for free this summer.

Like Gaetano Berardi, Yiadom is versatile in defence, but arguably he is a better player than Leeds’ current Swiss defender.

Hoolahan is set to leave Norwich City in the summer and become a free agent.

Of course, Leeds have Samu Saiz and Pablo Hernandez, who are similar players to Hoolahan, but the 35-year-old could complement that duo perfectly and add some much-needed experience to Heckingbottom’s squad.

£2.25m-rated Gunnarsson hasn’t agreed fresh terms with Cardiff City yet, despite playing a key role in their promotion push.

Physicality in midfield has been missing at Elland Road this season, which is a problem that Gunnarsson would solve.

He’d be a great addition alongside Ronaldo Vieira and Adam Forshaw.

Hernandez looks set to leave Hull City this season, ending a four-year stint at the KCOM Stadium

During that time at Hull, Hernandez has proved to be an extremely good Championship striker.

Leeds might face Premier League competition, but they should work hard to get the 27-year-old to Elland Road, as he could fire them to promotion.

Ameobi has had a reasonably impressive year with Bolton Wanderers in the Championship and could be a good addition at Elland Road.

In a better squad of players, Ameobi could have a good impact and would certainly be an upgrade on Hadi Sacko.
