Nottingham Forest took a big step towards Championship survival this weekend as they managed 1-1 by top six-chasing Preston at Deepdale.

Against arguably the in-form team in the division, Forest will probably be happy with a point but in honesty, Preston rode their luck at times and must have been delighted when the whistle blew at 90 minutes.

But there's been one player in the Forest ranks who has shone at times this campaign and it's £2.13million-rated Zach Clough, who has adapted to life seriously well in the Championship having made the move in January.

There was plenty of hype surrounding the 22-year-old when he was with Bolton Wanderers and he finally made the move up the division this year, scoring four goals for Forest so far.

But it's his movement and work rate that have seriously impressed the Forest faithful over the past couple of weeks and many have tipped him and fellow young star Ben Brereton to have a fantastic partnership next season.

Of course, Brereton is the 17-year-old star who is writing all sorts of headlines at the City Ground this season and in what has been an ultimately disappointing campaign, has arguably been the brightest spark for the Forest faithful.

But in these two English forwards, Forest have arguably two of the talented players in the division and two men that can certainly look forward to next-season, even more so if the Reds stay in the Championship.

With good pre-season campaigns could come a seriously strong partnership and could we see Brereton and Clough lead Forest towards the promotion next time out?

Forest and England fans alike will certainly think so, these two look very strong indeed.
