Victory for Burton Albion in next weekends League Two playoff final against Fleetwood could earn them a windfall of £1m according to financial experts in the Burton Mail.
This vast amount of cash would be earned from multiple avenues including television rights, sponsorship, Premier League parachute payments and ticket sales.
The Brewers chairman, Ben Robinson, has stated that promotion would be a massive boost for the club and with a seven figure sum up for grabs it’s clear to see why. It would also be a way to put the town on the map, making it easier to do business and create large revenue within the local community.
In League One, attendances of travelling supporters are generally much higher in comparison to League Two, so with more football supporters visiting the town it would mean more business for local hotels, b&b’s, restaurants, pubs etc. It would also have the capacity to create more jobs and attract more investors due to the potentially higher number of visitors.
Both Brewers chairman Ben Robinson and business leader Chris Plant have said that these are exciting times for Burton Albion FC and the town and that even non-football supporters should be delighted by this news.
