Jack Aitchison has admitted that he is still getting to grips with his new surroundings at Forest Green Rovers after joining the club on loan from Celtic earlier this month.

The Green Army encourage their players to eat vegan food in order for them to fall in line with their environmentally-friendly ethos.

Aitchison, who was not a vegan before he made the switch to Forest Green, has had to alter his diet in recent weeks.

Since linking up with the League Two side, the 19-year-old has made an immediate impression at The New Lawn.

Brought on as a substitute last Saturday by manager Mark Cooper during the club's clash with Cambridge United, Aitchison fired in the winner following a superb individual run.

With Forest Green currently fifth in the fourth-tier standings, the forward will be looking to help the club launch a sustained push for promotion this season.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun about his move to Forest Green, Aitchison said: "It's been really food so far - I'm still getting used to the vegan food, right enough!

"The boys have been welcoming and I've enjoyed it.

"It felt amazing to come on, score and help the boys on Saturday.

"We dug in, got the points and I'm just delighted that we've started to climb the table."

The Verdict

Having made the perfect start to life at Forest Green by scoring on his debut, Aitchison will be aiming to force his way into contention for a place in the club's starting eleven over the coming weeks.

With the Green Army set to face Colchester United on Saturday, it will be intriguing to see whether the forward can back up his most recent display by producing the goods once again for Cooper's side.

If he continues to thrive in League Two, Aitchison will unquestionably return to Celtic next year as a much more accomplished player.
