The Hatters are on their way back, after a decade of struggling in the bottom division and non-league, they're finally back in League One.

The unlucky losers of the Premier League's millions, Luton lost their top flight status in 1992 as the First Division became the Premier League.

They just missed out on their invite to the top table and have arguably paid for it ever since.

Whilst a stumble may have cost them the title, they're still back in the third tier and hoping now to push on to the Championship. They're ambitious, they've spent big to get out of League Two and they've got plans for a new ground too.

Not all their recruitment will need to be costly though, there's lots of players available on a free transfer this summer that they could work hard to acquire.

Here, FLW looks at six players that would fit nicely at Kenilworth Road....

One-time QPR youngster Andrade has ben the name on everyone's lips in the National league this season, his 19 goals have gone some way to consolidating Boreham Wood's position in the fifth tier,

Andrade is an attacking midfielder who likes to make late runs into the box, but also carry the ball forward whenever he can. At 24-years old he's aching for a chance to get into the Football league and Luton would do well to give him that chance.

Oddly, the Hatters don't need a free-scoring centre forward because they already have two. What they might be wise to look for is one who is ready to step up and take over from the deadly duo, should one of them move on.

Campbell has 13 goals in 23 Premier League 2 games for Stoke City, but is yet to sign a deal keeping him at the Potteries. He once cost them £850k from Manchester City's youth side, so if he is available Luton would be wise to move swiftly.

Anderson never wanted to drop into League Two, citing Mansfield's ambition as the reason for signing a one-year deal in the summer. That ambition hasn't materialised and the former Ipswich man is now without a club.

Providing ammunition for Hylton and Collins is paramount, Anderson fits the bill nicely.

Boateng won't be at Exeter next season, one incredible season in the midfield will see him snapped up this summer.

He's versatile which might help Luton trim their bulging squad a little and with nine assists this season he would be a valuable asset to the Hatters.

Diamond is another who bought into the Mansfield dream, only to see it turn into a nightmare. At 33-years old he isn't getting any younger, but he is a class centre back who still has the presence to shore up any defence.

Luton have looked shaky in recent weeks, hence finishing second and not top, but Diamond would put that right very quickly.

28-year old Upson will definitely be on the move this summer, MK Dons have been relegated and he hasn't languished in League Two before.

He's a midfielder with Championship experience and would bring a different element to Luton's current offering.
