Cauley Woodrow scored his second his second goal of the season at the weekend, but it was not enough to hand Barnsley their first win since the opening day of the campaign.

The 24-year-old put Barnsley ahead inside the first minute with a superb 25-yard drive, but Brentford fought back to win 3-1, thanks to a hat-trick of headers from Ollie Watkins.

Barnsley won automatic promotion from League One last season, but have struggled to make an impact since their return to the Championship.

Daniel Stendel's side have picked up just two points since their win over Fulham on the opening day of the season and have scored just five goals all campaign.

Woodrow was an important player for Barnsley last season and scored 19 goals in all competitions. The forward has had spells in the Championship before with Fulham, and while on loan at Bristol City and Burton Albion.

In the latest FLW Spotlight, we discuss whether Woodrow has unfinished business in the Championship, by a taking a closer look at some of his stats for Barnsley so far this campaign...

Woodrow has made six appearances for Barnsley in the Championship so far this season, playing 552 minutes in total.

Barnsley have scored just five goals in the Championship so far this campaign and Woodrow has scored two of them.

There's no doubt that the team need to score more goals if they're going to avoid an immediate return to League One and Woodrow could have an important role to play when it comes to scoring goals for the team.

He's had 17 shots on goal and seven of them (41.2%) have been on target. There's still room for improvement here, but given that he's only played six league games so far this season, you imagine that is something that he'll be reasonably satisfied with.

Woodrow has proven before that he's more than capable of scoring goals at this level. The striker scored three goals in 29 Championship appearances for Fulham in 2014/15 and four goals in 14 appearances for the club in 2015/16.

He then scored five times in 14 appearances while on loan at Burton Albion in 2016/17 and found the net twice in 14 appearances while on loan at Bristol City.

It's worth noting that more than half of his appearances in the Championship so far have been from the bench.

With that in mind, he's probably going to start more games at this level for Barnsley this season than he has in his entire career so far, so he's got a real chance to beat his season-best tally of five league goals.

Woodrow's passing stats from this season are very good too. He's made a total of 157 passes, with a pass accuracy of 79.6%. His stats show that he rarely gives the ball away and this is one aspect of his game that you imagine he'll be very pleased with.

Woodrow has been involved in 137 duels this season. He's certainly not afraid to get stuck in, but he's only been able to win 30.7% of them, so this is perhaps one aspect of his game that he will want to improve.

The striker has made 15 interceptions though, which is already more than he made in each one of his previous seasons at this level, so that alone shows that he's improved as a player.

Woodrow has completed 552 actions, but only 45.7% of his total actions have been successful. Considering Barnsley's underwhelming start to the season, this isn't too bad, but it's definitely something that the striker will be keen to improve on.

Looking at his stats from this season and how they compare with his other stats from the Championship from previous seasons, you could definitely say that Woodrow has unfinished business in the division.

The striker will obviously be disappointed with Barnsley's poor start to the campaign, but his stats for the season certainly suggest that he could have an important role to play for the team this term.
