Despite stumbling at the final hurdle, few at the Den could be critical of Millwall's first season back in the second tier.

Scintillating post-Christmas form saw them end up in the top six, only to stumble on the final straight against the division's big hitters.

Fulham and Middlesbrough have all-but ended their top six hopes, Villa will kill them off this weekend.

Even so, Neil Harris and his players can be immensely proud of their achievements, pushing on so late when other big clubs such as Leeds and Birmingham have not.

Few would have expected this at the start of the season, but Harris has now set a precedent.

Next season Millwall fans will believe they can challenge for the top six again and the manager must do what he can to make that happen.

It won't be easy, at least one of his stars is out of contract and looking for a move, whilst budgets may dictate he has to scour the lower divisions for new recruits

FLW look at two player that will be on their way in the coming weeks and two that might make an appearance at the Den.

On-loan Marshall has been superb this season and Millwall have benefited immensely from his guile and work rate.

He's definitely surplus to requirements at Molineux and has refused to rule out a full-time switch to the Den. Their end of season form will have underlined their ambition, something Marshall has been a key part of.

It won't be an easy chase, but Millwall will certainly want this man to sign permanently in the summer.

£900,000 rated Lee Gregory could well be on his way this summer as his current contract expires.

The burly striker has been earmarked by play-off hopefuls Derby County and he could switch the Den for Pride Park come the summer. Nobody at Millwall will be surprised if their hero from last season departs.

17-goal Rose has been excellent for Mansfield this season as they tussle for a League Two play-off spot, but he looks set to leave Field Mill as Cardiff and Millwall circle.

If Gregory does go, Rose will be the perfect replacement and a cheap one too. He's surely keen to play as high as possible and if Cardiff go up, Millwall looks the likeliest destination.

Cahill returned in a blaze of publicity this winter, but his impact has been negligible. His short-term deal expires in a few weeks and that isn't likely to be extended on the back of a few appearances from the bench.

We're not saying he'll be gone completely, he may remain at the club in a coaching capacity, but his playing days look to have come to an end.
