After a 1-0 home defeat to Cambridge United at the weekend, Notts County really are in turmoil, and are staring relegation out of the Football League for the first time in their 157-year history right in the face.
After a promising season last term, which culminated in a League Two play-off semi-final finish, the general thought around Meadow Lane was that the Magpies could definitely go one better this season, especially after an influx of big-money summer signings.
But fast forward six months, and the Magpies, after three different managers this season, sit rock bottom of the EFL, six points adrift of safety after winning just four games all season.
Manager Neal Ardley has already tried to breathe new life into Meadow Lane, bringing in a trio of January signings in Ben Barclay, Jim O'Brien and Ryan Schofield, but Saturday's lacklustre performance and defeat to Cambridge highlighted that there is still much, much more work to be done this window if they are to stay up this season.
With 17 days left until the end of the window, here, we take a look at the transfer business Notts County need to conduct...
In: Troy Archibald-Henville
Having conceded a staggering 57 goals in the league this season, it's evident to see that the Magpies' defence is undoubtedly their biggest problem this season. Ardley has signed Ben Barclay on loan from Brighton, but Notts will need more than a 22-year old loanee to help save their season.
Archibald-Henville remains a free agent having been without a club since leaving Exeter City at the end of last season - the 30-year old was a mainstay in the Grecians' impressive League Two campaign last term, where they reached the play-off final.
He's a strong, no-nonsence, experienced central defender, who could be a fantastic addition for the Magpies.
In: Liam Trotter
This season, Notts have looked far too weak in midfield, with the likes of David Vaughan struggling to adapt to life in League Two, despite being an impressive performer for Nottingham Forest in recent years.
They are in need of a real, tough-tackling midfielder, and Liam Trotter certainly fits the bill. Ardley will know him like the back of hands, having signed him for AFC Wimbledon in 2017.
Having amassed over 350 career appearances, he'd be a shrewd addition for the Magpies, and although Ardley has recently cooled down speculation in signing the League One club's vice-captain, maybe he should think again.
Out: Noor Husin
Ardley has already let go of two players since his arrival at Meadow Lane, but with still over 30 first-team players on their books, there is still much-needed work to be done in terms of outgoings.
Midfielder Husin has fallen out of favour at the East Midlands club this season, making just three substitute appearances under Ardley. He hasn't really set the world alight at Meadow Lane since his arrival from Crystal Palace last season, scoring just twice in 32 games for the Magpies.
With interest from the National League circling, perhaps it's time for the Afghanistan international to depart the club, and free up some wages for Ardley to work with to bring in some new players.
