161 minutes per goal: The driving force behind Coventry City’s play-off push

Published

on

Coventry City are looking to begin their climb back up through the Football League ladder this season under Mark Robins, with the Sky Blues looking to mount a play-off push in Sky Bet League Two.

Robins’ side currently sit ninth in the League Two table heading into the run-in following three consecutive defeats, but are still well in contention for the play-offs in an extremely competitive division that sees only nine points separate third from 10th.

Key to Coventry’s success this season has been the form of Marc McNulty, who arrived at the Ricoh Arena during the summer transfer window following the expiration of his contract with Sheffield United.

McNulty has been in exceptional goalscoring form this season, finding the back of the net on 16 occasions from his 32 appearances for the Sky Blues, averaging a goal every 161 minutes.

Just four of the forward’s goals have come from the penalty spot this season, with the 25-year-old also registering three assists for Coventry.

McNulty has failed to find the back of the net in Coventry’s last two League Two fixtures, with the forward’s minor goalscoring drought coinciding with a dip in form for the Sky Blues.

Coventry fans… Do your play-off hopes rest with McNulty? Let us know your thoughts!
