Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa is prepared to give forward Mallik Wilks a chance to force his way into his plans for next season, according to Football Insider.

The 20-year-old has spent the past two seasons out on loan, but Bielsa is prepared to give him a chance to prove himself in pre-season, following his hugely impressive spell with Doncaster Rovers.

Wilks spent last season on loan at Doncaster and made a big impact, scoring 16 goals and providing 12 assists in 55 appearances in all competitions.

Bielsa is prepared to give the attacker an opportunity to show that he deserves a chance in the first-team at Elland Road next season, both in pre-season training and in the pre-season friendly matches.

Wilks has made one substitute appearance for the Leeds senior side since progressing through the club's academy, which came when Garry Monk was manager of the club.

The Verdict

Wilks was one of the standout players for Doncaster last season and I'm sure he will feel that he deserves a chance in the first-team.

Bielsa has shown throughout his time at Leeds that he is prepared to give young players a chance in the first-team and I think Wilks deserves a chance to prove himself, following his very impressive campaign with Doncaster.

This could turn out to be a good thing for Leeds, as the Whites could do with another forward to provide competition for the likes of Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford.

All Wilks can do now is focus on working hard in pre-season and hope that he convinces Bielsa that he deserves an opportunity.
