Ipswich Town are going through a period of transition this summer.

For the first time in several years, they are starting the season without Mick McCarthy at the helm.

Instead, they have Paul Hurst - a man widely considered to be one of the brightest young English managerial prospects around at the moment after he led his Shrewsbury Town side to the League One play-off final.

So far during the summer transfer window, Hurst has moved to bring in Ellis Harrison from Bristol Rovers, Jordan Roberts from Crawley Town, Gwion Edwards from Peterborough United and Trevoh Chalobah on loan from Chelsea.

The signings so far indicate that Hurst will use his knowledge of the lower leagues to snap up bargain deals.

But players could also be leaving the club before the window ends.

Here are three players that are likely to be axed before the end of the transfer window, meaning Ipswich fans will never see them wear the shirt again.

Waghorn is supposedly on the cusp of a move to Derby County.

This will be a major blow for the Tractor Boys as the 28-year-old netted 16 goals and provided 11 assists last season.

However, Ipswich are in line to make a healthy profit after he joined last year from Rangers in a bargain deal.

Rowe spent last season on loan at Lincoln City and unless he does something special in pre-season, he could be set for another loan or a permanent exit.

The 26-year-old midfielder is not really competing for a starting spot at the moment.

With just seven Ipswich appearances to his name since his January 2017 move, Rowe's future looks bleak at Portman Road.

Sears could be looking for a route of the club this summer if Ipswich sign some more strikers.

The former West Ham United youngster was a bit-part player last term and is likely to have a similar role this year.

Despite netting in pre-season against Milton Keynes, Ipswich are more likely to consider alternatives to the 28-year-old.
