As Birmingham City's season begins to fizzle out in unfortunate circumstances, the club face a massive fight to keep hold of Che Adams in the summer.

It has been a wild season at St. Andrew's to say the least, with Garry Monk's men fighting for a place in the play-offs for the majority of campaign - Adams' goals playing a huge role in doing so.

But their season was thrown into limbo after being hit with a nine-point deduction, which now sees them occupy 17th spot in the Sky Bet Championship table, sitting six points clear of the relegation zone.

The latest report claims that Everton are interested in the prolific striker, and with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal reportedly circling, FLW's George Harbey discusses the Che Adams situation at Birmingham City...

First of all, what have you made of Che Adams' season so far?

He has been incredible.

I have always liked Che Adams as a player - I watched him play a few times for non-league side Ilkeston Town, and without sounding like a Football Manager scout, I knew he would go far.

He has been incredibly important for Birmingham this term, and he would have definitely won the Championship Player of the Year award if it wasn't for how good Teemu Pukki has been for Norwich City this season.

Honestly, can you see him being at Birmingham next season?

It is going to be incredibly tough for Blues to keep hold of him beyond this season.

With massive clubs from the top-flight set to come knocking, you wouldn't blame Adams for having his head turned, especially with Birmingham's current situation off the pitch.

That isn't Monk's fault of course, but it's just how football is nowadays.

Is he capable of making the step-up to the Premier League?

I definitely think he is good enough for the Premier League - maybe not good enough for a team like Manchester United, but he would be perfect for a team like Everton.

He possesses so much pace and power up front, and his finishing is unreal, and I can't see any reason why he wouldn't be able to make the step-up to the Premier League.

Looking back over previous seasons, the likes of Matej Vydra and Bobby Reid, who finished as the leading scorers in the Championship last season, have failed to make an impact in the top-flight this time around, although I think Adams is an exception.

Has Birmingham's point deduction hampered their chances of keeping him beyond this season?

I wouldn't say so.

I think even if Birmingham still found themselves fighting for promotion, they'd still face a huge task of keeping him beyond this season.

If anything, it might make Adams want to stay at Birmingham even more, as he will be eager to fire them into the play-off spots again next term.

How much should Birmingham demand for Adams in the summer?

It's a really tough one.

When you look at it, they reportedly turned down a bid of £12million from Burnley in January, and he's only improved since then.

Birmingham's financial situation off the pitch might have a say in things, but I think they have got to be looking at £15million, at least.

Ultimately, what next for Adams - what would be the best move for him?

As alluded to before, I think a move to a team like Everton would be a good move for Adams.

I don't think he should stay at Birmingham in all honesty, because if he doesn't replicate the same goalscoring form again next season, then those teams that are interested now may not be next time.

I would love to see a team like Bournemouth come in for him, but he has got to ensure that he is getting game-time wherever he does go.
