Joao Carvalho was left out of the Nottingham Forest squad that drew with Reading at the weekend, intensifying speculation linking him with a move away from the City Ground.

The Portuguese playmaker has been in and out of the starting line-up under Sabri Lamouchi this season, but at the weekend, he was left out of the travelling squad altogether.

Despite fans believing that this was due to his partner having a baby, The Athletic's Paul Taylor confirmed that it was actually Alfa Semedo's partner who had given birth instead.

In fact, after the game, Lamouchi admitted via Nottinghamshire Live that it was his "choice" to leave Carvalho out of the squad, as Forest were held to a draw in Berkshire.

It hasn't quite worked out for Carvalho since his £13.2m move to Forest last summer, with the 22-year-old scoring six goals and producing nine assists for the Reds.
