Despite Saturday's thrashing at the hands of runaway leaders Wolves, Sheffield United have stormed up the Championship on their return to the second tier this season.

One key reason for the success of Chris Wilder's side has been the hot form of striker Leon Clarke, who is the second highest scorer in the division.

His 15 goals are only bettered by Matej Vydra's 16, and the pair look to be in a straight fight for the Championship golden boot with a host of players on 12 their nearest challengers.

He's scoring at a rate better than a goal every two games, which is not to be sniffed at all - especially in a newly-promoted side.

He hasn't laid on many goals for team-mates but 2 assists show he is capable of turning provider from time to time while his 2.6 shots per game shows he is able to get chances on a fairly regular basis.

The Verdict

Clarke and Vydra wouldn't have been many people's bet for the Championship top scorer one-two if you'd asked them at the start of the season.

However, Clarke has taken the division by storm and if he keeps it up, Sheffield United have every chance to making it into the play-offs.
