Blackburn Rovers will demand an eight-figure fee for the sale of attacker Adam Armstrong, a report from LancsLive has claimed.

Armstrong has been in outstanding form for Tony Mowbray's of late, as the Lancashire side mount a late push for a place in the Championship play-off places this season.

That is something that appears to have caught the attention of some of those further up the table, with recent reports claiming that scouts from several Premier League clubs have been monitoring the progress of the 23-year-old.

It has now been suggested that one of those is Armstrong's former club Newcastle, who he left to join Rovers back in January 2018, although reports have indicated that it will take a significant offer for the Magpies or any other side to prise the attacker away from Ewood Park.

So is Armstrong worth the eight-figure fee Blackburn will apparently demand for him in the summer.

Here, we put the spotlight on the former England youth international's performances so far this season, in order to find out.

With Armstrong having featured in all 33 of Rovers' league games so far this season, the attacker is evidently both someone who has the physical demands necessary to cope with a heavy fixture schedule, and is held in high regard by those calling the shots at Ewood Park, and the stats do seem to back that up.

Having scored nine goals and provided six assists in the league this season, Armstrong has been directly involved in more of his side's goals than any of his teammates than this season.

What is particularly impressive about that, is that a good number of those goals and assists have come since the loss of the talismanic Bradley Dack to injury ten league games ago, highlighting Armstrong's ability to step up to the plate in highly pressurised situations for Rovers.

It is also worth noting that with four of those nine league goals this coming from outside the box, Amstrong is also capable of coming up with a game-changing moment out of next to nothing when needed to, further underlining his importance to Blackburn, and demonstrating why they are so keen to retain his services.

But with a shot on target percentage of just 45.2%, and an offensive duels success rate of less than 35%, it does appear as though Armstrong may need several attempts to find his range, and could struggle against the quality of defenders in the Premier League, which may put some clubs off shelling out quite so much for the 23-year-old.

How much do you remember about what happened to Blackburn Rovers in 2019?

That somewhat low percentage however, may be influenced by the fact that he has played in a number of roles in attack this season, and not always as a centre forward, making it both harder for Armstrong to settle in one position, and forcing him to take shots from a longer range, meaning it will have also been more difficult for him to consistently find the target.

Indeed, with Armstrong defensive duel success rate of almost 65% from his position higher up the pitch also help his side avoid being caught on the counter-attack too often, it also demonstrates his all-round contribution to this Blackburn side.

The same can also be said of the attacker's pass success rate of 75%, with that general reliability on the ball helping Mowbray's men to control games from an advanced position, allowing them to keep up the pressure on opposition defences.

It seems therefore, as though there is very little reason for Rovers to consider selling Armstrong to any interested party anytime soon for a fee significant enough to allow them to bring in a replacement for the 23-year-old.

Add to that that with two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at Ewood Park - putting Rovers in a strong position to negotiate any bid that may come in for the attacker - and it seems any side who may want to secure the services of Armstrong this summer, will have to come up with a rather large offer indeed.
