Barnsley have climbed to within touching distance of the automatic promotion spots in League One and look set to fight right up to the death in the division.

They had a quiet transfer deadline day, making one signing in George Miller. He won't join up with the club until the summer though as he's currently on loan at Bradford City, meaning it's pretty much 'as you were' from last weekend.

They drew 2-2 with Oxford in their last game, their fourth match unbeaten and a tenth point from a possible twelve.

That's left them just one point behind Portsmouth in second on the same number of game, but with a far superior goal difference.

Tomorrow they travel to mid table Scunthorpe United where they'll be hoping to keep up the pressure and keep alive their Championship dream. Despite losing Brad Potts in the transfer window, they've got a strong squad to choose form and we think they'll go with the following XI.

Without an influx of new players the squad will look largely the same. There's lots to be gleaned from the players who did not go, Kieffer Moore being one such player. He missed out starting the Oxford game, but came on to score and will surely join Cauley Woodrow up top

Alex Mowatt and Cameron McGeehan will likely be paired in midfielder whilst out wide, Jacob Brown will keep new signing Jordan Green on the bench. Mamadou Thiam scored against Oxford as well and is another who will feature against Scunthorpe.

The central defensive pairing is Liam Lindsay and Ethan Pinnock, something that will delight Tykes fans. They were both linked with a move, to Stoke and Brentford respectively, and are as good a pairing outside the top two divisions as there is.

It's a strong looking side that hasn't been significantly added to in the window, but should still be there or thereabouts come May.
