Despite their magnificent position in the Sky Bet Championship table at present, you would expect Nottingham Forest to strengthen their attacking options in the January transfer window as they look to win promotion to the Premier League.

The Reds currently sit level on points with West Bromwich Albion at the top of the league table after 11 league games, but further additions will be needed if Sabri Lamouchi's side are to cement their place in the automatic promotion spots.

Over the course of the summer transfer window, Lamouchi bid farewell to a host of players, especially attacking players, as he looked to reshape the squad left at his disposal by Martin O'Neill.

The likes of Daryl Murphy, Apostolos Vellios, Jason Cummings and Hillal Soudani all departed the City Ground and moved onto pastures new, with Tyler Walker also completing a season-long loan move to Lincoln City.

The latter's departure came as a somewhat surprise to Forest fans up and down the country, with many crying out for the 22-year-old to be given a chance to impress under Lamouchi this season, rather than be sent out on loan again.

The striker scored 26 goals in all competitions for League Two side Mansfield Town last term, spearheading the Stags into the play-off semi-finals where they were eventually defeated by Newport County.

Forest have been left short up top after a host of departures in the summer, with Rafa Mir and Lewis Grabban currently the club's only out-and-out striking options.

Here though, we take a look at how Walker has done since moving on loan to the Imps in League One, and whether Forest should look to recall him in the January transfer window...

After establishing himself as one of the most prolific forwards in League Two last season, Walker has since coped with the step up to League One with ease, it seems.

The Imps started the season off in impressive style under Danny Cowley, but have since struggled to find any real consistency under Michael Appleton, following the departure of Cowley to Huddersfield Town.

Walker is currently the Imps' leading goalscorer though - in a total of 15 games, the striker has scored seven goals and looks well on course to hit double figures before the turn of the year.

Lincoln set up in a very similar way to how Forest set up under Sabri Lamouchi - both sides deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation, which sees Jack Payne sit behind Walker in the hole, much like Joao Carvalho does behind Lewis Grabban at the City Ground.

In recent weeks, Payne has been used more as a second striker, and the playmaker's role is to link up with Walker and create chances for each other.

Walker's link-up play has been impressive this season - he has brought the likes of Jorge Grant and Bruno Andrade into play effectively, accruing a pass success rate of 77.6%, as well as registering one assist.

One thing that Walker might be disappointed with so far is his lack of shots on target - the Forest loanee has accrued a shot on target rate of only 46.2% so far, but having had 48 touches inside the box, the goals should continue to come for him.

He is excelling on loan in League One, and recalling him in January could be a masterstroke.
