Ryan Sessegnon was rewarded for his hard work in the Championship this season with five awards at the 2018 EFL Awards.

The 17-year-old has played a key role in Fulham's charge for the automatic promotion spots this season as well as being important last season when they ended up losing to Reading in the play-off semi-finals.

Sessegnon has gradually moved his way up the pitch in terms of position because he started at left-back, but now plays as a winger for Slavisa Jokanovic's side.

The Cottagers drew with local rivals Brentford at the weekend which hands the advantage to Cardiff for the second automatic spot with just a few games remaining, but Fulham will still fancy their chances in the play-offs.

Sessegnon has nearly averaged a goalscoring contribution every other game, and is yet to miss a league match this season. These figures are remarkable for a 17-year-old because of the sheer consistency they require as well as the fact that he is still developing.

He is starting to show the Championship is below his level, and it shouldn't be long before he is in the Premier League whether that be with Fulham or one of the top sides currently after him such as Tottenham.

His average of 1.3 tackles per game show the all-round role he plays which enables Fulham to dominate down his flank and create overloads. The defensive contributions and work-rate that he puts in ensures that the opposition winger and full-back are pinned back on his side, which helps destabilise the opposition shape.

34.3 passes on average per game also shows the role he plays in ball retention which is a key part of Fulham's play because it enables them to control the tempo of games through possession while also playing a lot of the game in the final third. However, his pass success average percentage of 74.9 shows that this is an area he needs to work on even if he does take risks with possession due to his position, but they are still fantastic numbers for such a young player.
