Leeds United picked up a crucial three points in midweek, as they beat play-off chasing, Preston North End 2-0 at Deepdale.
The Whites hardly put a foot wrong all game and fully deserved the win on the night, a result which saw them move back into the automatic promotion places.
Patrick Bamford netted both goals on the night and he will be a relieved man at the moment, having previously struggled in front of goal in recent weeks.
But Bamford’s impressive showing could be frustrating for a fellow Leeds United team-mate, who would have been confident of a start for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Kemar Roofe has only recently returned to the first-team picture after being ruled out of action with a knee ligament injury, that he picked up in the win over Swansea earlier this year.
But Roofe has returned sooner than expected, and would have hoped that he would return to the starting XI ahead of Bamford after the former Chelsea man failed to make a notable impact.
Roofe has been one of Leeds’ main outlets for goals this season, and already has () to his name in this year’s campaign, in an impressive spell with the Whites.
He could become frustrated if Bielsa persists with Bamford as this would see his game time severely limited as the season heads towards a conclusion.
There’s no doubting that Roofe is good enough to be starting for Leeds, but it seems unlikely that Bielsa will hand him a start ahead of Bamford anytime soon.
But the former Oxford striker will know that he simply has to take any chance that is presented to him in the coming weeks, otherwise he could be frozen out of the starting XI on a more frequent basis.
Competition for places can only be a good thing for Marcelo Bielsa’s side though as they look to make a long-awaited return to the Premier League this season.
