Sheffield United got back to winning ways this past weekend when they swept aside Wigan Athletic.

Chris Wilder’s men saw off the challenge of the Latics, putting four past them in a 4-2 win at Bramall Lane.

The result made it four wins in their last six outings, with last Saturday’s win moving the Blades back to the summit of the standings after 15 matches.

A Chey Dunkley own goal gave the hosts the lead after 23 minutes before Kal Naismith equalised just before half-time.

Joe Garner added a consolation for Wigan after a mercurial performance from veteran striker Billy Sharp.

The evergreen striker scored a second-half hat-trick to give Sheffield United an unassailable lead.

In the form of his life, the 32-year-old took his season tally to 10 Championship goals in Saturday's standout display.

He played 88 minutes before coming off to a standing ovation from the Bramall Lane faithful, as he was replaced by Conor Washington.

Sharp had a 100% conversion rate, managing three goals from three shots in what was a clinical performance up front. Only David McGoldrick had more shots from either side on Saturday.

There was more to Sharp's game than just goals, though. During his 88 minutes, he had just 27 touches of the ball, highlighting his proficiency with the ball during the win.

Of those touches, 13 were passes, with 11 being completed, resulting in a pass success rate of 85%, that also included one key pass to set up a Sheffield United chance in the final third.

Sharp attempted one tackle and completed it in an afternoon where everything went right for the skipper.

The City Ground is the venue this weekend when Wilder takes his side to Nottingham Forest looking to maintain their place at the top of the division, with Sharp hoping he can continue his impressive personal form.
