13 goals, 7 assists: Millwall must launch a transfer bid for this impressive attacker

Millwall have enjoyed a season of consolidation on their return to the Championship, tucking into mid-table comfortably away from the hustle and bustle of the relegation spots.

Lee Gregory and George Saville have eight goals each so far this campaign, but if the Lions are going to continue their upward trajectory, then manager Neil Harris is going to be searching for a proven goal scorer.

They have scored 43 goals in their 36 league fixtures this term, fewer than any other side in the top 13 teams in the division.

Meanwhile, down in League One, striker Charlie Wyke has been in superb form for Bradford City, helping to propel them to within a whisker of the play off race. As the Bantams fight for a place in the Championship, could Wyke make the step up in the summer without them?

FLW look at the 25-year old’s stats to show why he’d be a super fit at the Den.

Wyke joined the Bantams in the summer from Carlisle and has been a definite hit at Valley Parade. He’s bagged 13 league goals so far this season, including a hat trick against Bristol Rovers in September. Those goals have come from just 31 appearances, meaning he has 202.5 minutes in between goals.

Wyke is a real fox in the box, but he also has an eye for a pass too, leading to seven assists for his side.

It is a centre forward’s job to make goals and to score goals, Wyke proves he has a knack of doing both. His shot conversion is 28%, meaning if you get the ball into him he’ll likely score one in three. In a more creative team that goal tally he has could easily rise.

He’s also a target for the tough tacklers, being on the receiving end of 75 fouls this term. He’s clearly been targeted as a threat to defences and wins free kicks by virtue of the fact. Mind you, he’s not adverse to dishing it out himself, having been sent off twice this season.

At 25, Wyke represents a sound investment and having proven himself in league One, his chance to step up will surely come this summer. He’d be a great fit for Millwall, bringing that missing element to their attack and maybe, just maybe nudging them towards the top six.
