The arguably most comical footballer to have lifted the Champions League trophy, is Djimi Traore.

Traore was a footballer who divided opinion, but few players as decorated as Traore have ever walked through the doors at The Valley.

In a 17-year career, Traore won the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and Charity Shield with Liverpool, the Couple de la Ligue with Marseille and the MLS Supporters' Shield with Seattle Sounders.

But he'll always be remembered as a player with a keen eye for (his own) goal, and a defender blessed with too much pace for his own good - he was the Phil Jones of his day.

After an eight-year spell with Liverpool, Traore joined Iain Dowie's Charlton Athletic in a deal worth £2 million in August 2006 - he was part of double-signing along with Amdy Faye, possibly the worst two Charlton signings of that era.

His debut for the Addicks was short-lived though - he was shown a second yellow card in the game for preventing a free-kick from being taken, as his side lost 3-1 to Alan Pardew's West Ham.

Pardew was soon after appointed as manager of Charlton and come January of the 2006/07 Premier League season, Traore was impressing nobody at The Valley and he was sold on to Portsmouth, having made 11 league appearances for the club, and 13 in all competitions.

Since then, Traore has represented the likes of Rennes, Birmingham City, Monaco, Marseille and most recently Seattle. He made the move to the MLS in 2013 where he enjoyed two successful seasons with the Sounders, which is where he remains to this day.

Traore hung up his boots after the 2014 MLS Campaign, and in 2016 was appointed as an assistant coach at the club - he's well-liked in the States, and this goal (above) was the highlight of his brief, but successful time with Seattle.

For all the flack that Traore took as a player, he's landed on his feet with a good role in the MLS, and can look back on a footballing career more illustrious than most.
