Sheffield Wednesday have yet to win a Championship match under manager Jos Luhukay and find themselves just six points above the dreaded drop zone.

Injuries haven't helped Luhukay enforce his Owls blueprint but results in the league - they have won and progressed in the FA Cup under him - haven't set the world alight in the early stages of his reign.

When an injury crisis hits, one thing any manager needs is his experienced players to step up and Lucas Joao, aged 24 but significantly older than some of the youngsters Luhukay was forced to field during the 1-1 draw in Saturday's Yorkshire derby at Oakwell against Barnsley, fits into that category.

We've run the numbers on Joao's last six matches and they indicate that the Portuguese hitman is struggling to do that right now - he has to improve in the games to come.

He has just one goal to his name, from 12 shots, an average of two per game and he is producing one key pass per match.

His other stats do not stand out as someone who is producing the goods for a struggling team and there is plenty of room for improvement.
