12 goals, 5 assists: Barnsley need to be considering a move for this clinical striker

It is shaping up into a huge couple of months for AFC Wimbledon, who are looking to maintain their Sky Bet League One status during the run-in.

Neal Ardley’s side currently sit 18th in the League One table, three points above the relegation zone heading into the final 10 fixtures of the season.

One of Wimbledon’s most impressive performers this season has been Lyle Taylor, with the 27-year-old forward standing out in a difficult campaign.

Here at FLW, we take a look at Taylor’s stats from the 2017/18 campaign so far:

Taylor has featured on 36 occasions for the Dons this season, scoring 12 goals for Ardley’s side and adding a further five assists for his teammates.

The 27-year-old’s shot conversion currently sits at 19%, whilst he has picked up three yellow cards and won 55 fouls over the course of the season.

The type of form Taylor has shown this season could bring him to the attention of clubs at a higher level, either in the Championship or in a more comfortable League One position.

One club we believe Taylor could be perfect for is Barnsley, where he would fit perfectly into Jose Morais’ system at Oakwell.

Barnsley have favoured a 4-3-3 system since Morais’ arrival, with Oli McBurnie one man to impress in the forward line.

Unfortunately for the Tykes, they are unlikely to retain the on-loan forward’s service in the summer, and could turn their attention to someone like Taylor, who at 27 might be keen to make a move away from Wimbledon and test himself.

Of course, Barnsley, like Wimbledon, don’t know which division they will be competing in next season, however, Morais clearly has a style of football he wants to see at Oakwell, which Taylor could be perfect for.
