Since opting to appoint Slaven Bilic as their new manager in June, West Bromwich Albion have experienced a fantastic start to life under the guidance of the Croatian.

Having only tasted defeat once in the Championship this season, the Baggies currently lead the way ahead of their nearest challengers Preston North End and Leeds United.

Whilst the likes of Semi Ajayi, Grady Diangana and Romaine Sawyers have all impressed following their summer moves to the Hawthorns, it could be argued that West Brom's star performer has been Matheus Pereira.

Signed by the club on a season-long loan deal from Sporting Lisbon in August, the attacking midfielder has taken the second-tier by storm during the opening months of the 2019/20 campaign.

Pereira's displays for the Baggies have recently attracted the interest of Manchester United.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are reportedly tracking the 23-year-old's progress at West Brom ahead of a potential swoop in January.

Given that United are currently seventh in the Premier League standings, they will need to bolster their attacking options during the upcoming transfer window if they are to achieve a top-four finish next May.

Here, in our latest spotlight article, we assess whether Pereira could help the Red Devils reach new heights by taking a look at his statistics for West Brom this season.

Having played 1099 minutes worth of action for the Baggies this year, it is safe to say that Pereira is already a mainstay in Bilic's starting eleven.

During the 15 appearances that he has made for West Brom, the midfielder has illustrated an unerring level of composure whilst in possession of the ball having registered a pass success rate of 85.1%.

Providing that he can replicate, or even exceed this particular figure in the Premier League for United, he could end up thriving at Old Trafford.

An incredibly creative player, Pereira has provided nine assists for his West Brom team-mates this season in the Championship.

With the Red Devils missing a player who is able to create chances almost at will, the Brazilian may be the ideal man to solve this issue.

Not afraid to take the game to the opposition, Pereira has completed 62 successful dribbles this season for the Baggies.

If he can hit the ground running for United by causing havoc in the final third, he could quite easily become a favourite amongst the club's supporters.

Given that he has only scored three goals in the second-tier, it is imperative that he improves this facet of his game if he does indeed join United in January.

Furthermore, the fact that he has only won 19.2% of his aerial duels suggests that he may struggle to cope with the physicality of the Premier League.

However, given just how talented Pereira is, it may be worth United taking a risk on him during the upcoming transfer window.
